Positions Available

Mariachi Quinto Sol Welcomes all who have a passion for music. We do require you to play any one of the instruments listed, however, we can make a few exceptions on special circumstances. Nevertheless, if you love music and have a passion for performing please don't hesitate to get in touch with us. We all started somewhere, and here at Mariachi Quinto Sol we believe in spreading and teaching this art to anyone and everyone who seeks it.

Violin

The violin is the soul of a Mariachi. Its role is to provide the melody and/or counter-melody alongside the trumpet. We require at least one year of experience alongside the ability to read music and have an acute sense and knowledge of the instrument as we require many songs to be learned and memorized. Some songs to look at as a guide for level required are: El Son De La Negra (Mariachi Vargas) and El Cascabel (Vargas). The Sheet Music can be found below.

Trumpet

The trumpet is the most vibrant and powerful instrument in the Mariachi. With its bright tone, it is what truly gives Mariachi its recognizable sound. We require at least one year of experience alongside the ability to read music and have an acute sense and knowledge of the instrument as we require many songs to be memorized. Some songs to look at as a guide for the level required are: El Son de La Negra (Vargas) and El Cascabel (Vargas). The sheet music can be found below.

Guitar/VIhuela

Behind any great mariachi, is a great Armonia Section. With its rhythmic strumming, the Guitar/Vihuela is truly the backbone of a Mariachi and carries an extremely crucial role. Sure the violins may have the beautiful melodies, and the trumpets its vibrant riffs, however, everything falls apart if the Armonia Section is not in unison. We require at least one year of experience and the ability to play most chords. Reading music is not entirely essential, but helpful and a skill you will learn if admitted to the group. A strong, unwavering sense of rythym is required. Sheet music is down below.

Guitarron

Big and Powerful, the Guitarron is the heartbeat of a Mariachi. With it's deep and precise plucks, the Guitarron is essential for the intros, transitions, and cues of the music. We require at least one year of experience and the ability to read sheet music. Audition Sheet Music can be found below.

Vocals

Most members who join with and instrument usually intend to sing as well. However, if you cannot play any of the instruments listed above but still have a deep passion for Mariachi Music, and love to sing, we might just have a place for you. Mariachi music is more than just singing the words. It's telling a sorrowful story about lost love. It's about delivering joy to the audience through a patriotic poem. But most importantly, it's about representing a culture that stems back generations in time. A strong and powerful stage presence is required. Examples of some great performances are listed below.
